JUDGING THE ENTRIES
Based on the relative merits of each entry, the judges will
select those inventions that demonstrate outstanding potential for
making a substantial difference within the wider community through
development as a commercial product.
ROUND 1: SCHOOL-BASED JUDGING
- School-based exhibitions and/or student presentations will
enable each school-based judging panel the opportunity to select
quality entries for submission for the state-wide judging
- Selection criteria to be used by school-based judging panels
will include:
- How beneficial will this invention be to society?
- Does this invention have the potential to become a commercial
product?
ROUND 2: JUDGING OF OFFICIAL EMAILED ENTRY
Selection criteria to be used by specially identified judging
panels:
30% Concept originality
30% Benefits for society
40% Potential for commercialisation
ROUND 3: INDIVIDUAL INTERVIEWS
Selection criteria to be used by interview panels:
10% Concept originality
10% Influencing motivation
10% Benefits for society
20% Breadth of research & investigation
20% Quality and content of Design Brief & Model or Display Chart
20% Potential for commercialisation
10% Individual presentation
Judging panels for Rounds 2 & 3 will be comprised of invited
representatives from Technology & Science academics, teachers
and VCE students, and associated personnel from the Department of
Education & Training, the Triton Foundation and the Education
Foundation
